[ Character ]

Name:
Darkpally

Class:
Paladin

Primary / Main Spec:
Tank

Secondary / Off Spec:
Holy and Retribution

Why do you use this spec ?
Enjoy tanking, had some friends who has healing/dps classes so went prot for dungeons/raids.

What glyphs do you use, and why?
Prime:
[Glyph of Seal of Truth] - exp = good :)
[Glyph of Word of Glory] - Self healing
[Glyph of Shield of the Righteous] - cus its pro
Major:
[Glyph of Focused Shield] - i use either this or hammer or wrath, focused shield is great for boss threat etc.
[Glyph of Lay on Hands] - best there is in terms of major.
[Glyph of Holy Wrath] - fairly good. / Dazing shield sometimes

Would respec if needed for the guild?
Yes, i heared Zeal was recruiting a Ret so would happily join as Ret, will post gear below.

Experience in raid with other specs (in case of a hybrid class like Druid or Shaman) :
Cleared beginning wrath content as both Ret and Prot, Ret was my main and have fairly good raid experience as both.

Experience in raid with other classes (with alts or if you rerolled) :
TBC as hunter and resto druid, Wrath as Resto druid.

Professions and reasons for choosing them (also add if you can craft anything useful) :
JC - its great JC only gems and the trinkets are good for all my specs inc OS. can cut many gems as been doing the daily since day 2 of cata.
Enchanting - ring enchants + good gear enchants, have maxed skill lvl.

Time Played (/played):

Darkpally 63 Days, over 14 days played at 85.
Sidara/ Darkowns/ Droodowns - 64 days, 6 days at 85.
Darkelve - 66 days, 1 day 14 hours at lvl 85.

When did you start playing WoW?:
January 24th 2007

[ Raid Experience]

Please note that this is for experience when this was current content not things you've gone back to kill for achievements.

TBC (please specify if you killed a boss for the first time after patch 3.0):
Had a hunter main at the time, cleared karazhan and gruuls/ mags. Rerolled Resto druid during TBC and cleared all content except sunwell. Loved TBC raids (BT/Hyjal :))

WOTLK (please specify if you did any Hard Mode in 10 or 25) :
Cleared Naxx as resto druid/ Prot pally/ ret pally. on Both 10 and 25 man. Started progressing through ulduar but quit wow about half way through due to things mentioned in previous guilds. Never really did any ICC hard mode stuff as i came back to wow about a week before cata came and really started enjoying the game again.

Which is the best encounter in WoW from your point of view and why ?
My favourite encount is Illidan because it was hard at the time, i really like a challange and the satisfaction for killing him was amazing. I like many encounters for the fact that they are difficult. Archimonde/Vashj.

[ Gear ]

Please post a link to your Armory profile or equivilent here:

http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/character/s ... lly/simple

not sure why the display pic is my pvp gear :p.

Describe your off-spec gear if u have any :
Have both Retribution and Holy Offspecs. both have 346+ in every slot with epic ret weapon and some items. Similar with holy gear, have quite a few epics and all 346+. I can gain nothing more from heroics/ justice points for any of my specs but still run the daily everyday for the Valor points :). Would be willing to show offspec gear in game for any specs/ characters at any time.

[ Previous Guilds ]

Guild:
Currenty in Shiva, reason for leaving is the lack of motivation within the guild. Many raiders want to progress more than others and are being held back. Raiding isnt strict enough for my liking and although i like many of the members i want to raid end-game heroic content.

Reason for leaving:
some things mentioned above. also only 1 25 man raid per week :S.

[ Raids ]

When are you able to play? (example. Friday: 15:00 - 23:00)

All of Zeals raid days and times. Everyday in the evening from 16:00 onwards and will most likely be on during the day also.

Do you have anything that could influence "negatively" on your playtime?
Exam periods but will not affect raiding as it is currently only 3 days a week and i cant see it being a problem in the future.

Are you able to raid ATLEAST 3 days a week?
Yes!

Please upload a screenshot and post a link to it here:
(Note: please display keybinds and note any hidden bars you may have, also please be in a raid for the screenshot, if you don't have one join a battleground and make one.)

Taunt master, the addon in the middle on the left, is alot bigger in this pic than usuall as its a 40 man raid. Also recount, you can see in the bottom right hand corner.

[ You ]

Real Name:
Gary

Age:
17 (18 in 1 month)

Gender:
M

Location:
England

MSN/E-Mail/Other contact information:
gaz_w91@hotmail.com

Do you have a microphone to use with Ventrilo?:
Yes

Do you have a stable internet connection?:
Yes

What kind of computer do you have?
Homebuilt Desktop PC, got best of everything. About a 25 inch screen. 4 built in fans.
Also play a Macbook Pro, have wow installed and use it for wow when travelling around etc.

Do you know someone in Zeal who would recommend you?
Maybe Iconiac as a i pvp with him a fair bit. :) It was Ed that told me Zeal were recruiting a ret today but couldnt see it on the list?

What is your motivation to join Zeal?
Heroic mode raids, good raiding style, nice members and good leadership. Also the fact that the guild has been going so long must count for something :p

Which do you believe are your main strengths and weaknesses as a player?
Strengths - Very Good knowledge of all the classes I play. Always prepared for raids and reliable. I like to think of myself as a fairly good pvper. Playing 1900+ resto druid at the mo and looking for a partner to be around that with paladin. I am a friendly and fairly helpful player, once you get to know me :). Always gem and enchant my gear with the best possible at the time. If affordable.
Weaknesses - I get frustrated with people who don't listen but who doesnt >.>'. Thats about it.

Tell us a little something about yourself(this is the part where you can go crazy)
I play a few sports as hobbies, particularly Football/ Golf/ Snooker. Am current in full time education as a student in a Sixth form collage studying Business and Economics. I enjoy watching sports and gambling, bet alot during the week but its fun. Enjoy socialising through games and in real life. Just going out with friends etc. Love the best of everything in life :).
Any questions or querries id be happy to answer whenever
Thanks for you time in reading this app.

As to your tanking talents and glyphs:
Can I ask why you went with the exact spec you did? In my opinion you lost out on one of the most vital raiding abilities, Divine Guardian. In quite a few places you went for threat talents. I personally never need them. I don't see why you would either.
The same goes for your glyphs. Crusader Strike greatly outperforms Hammer of the Righteous, especially on single target. On any single target fight, the glyph is a wasted glyph slot.

In fact going with a self-healing build rather than a threat build is, in my opinion, the way to go for any Paladin tank. I haven't been self-healing too much lately because we generally run with one too many healer but it has been very useful in our 10m progression runs.

That said, I personally don't see a need for us to recruit another Paladin tank. Others might but I think I'm doing fine myself.

Otherwise a well written application. I would just like to see a screenshot of your UI that doesn't get resized to something unreasonably small by imageshack. Can you try uploading it somewhere else, for instance on Photobucket. I think that site doesn't resize.

Yes i think when i first started tanking at 85 i felt i needed the threat far more than i actually do now, havent spent as much time as i should looking into to prime raiding specs but ur points seem spot on. I will reg-glyph for the imp shield of right and change my spec around a bit.
Ill work on a bigger screenshot size and as far as needing another prot pally goes; if it is un-needed, I was told Zeal was recruiting a Ret paladin and i would happily respec as my gear isnt far behind my tanking.
thanks for the advice

Photobucket resizes mine as well. Makes them like the one you posted, no idea how to fix it either. But anyway UI looks good and I see keybinds, no 1234567890-=.

From what i understand Clima, he isn't applying as a tank (maybe offspec) but as a retri and i notice we indeed have open recruitment for them.

All in all, a very nice application. Good luck !!!

Photobucket never resized for me... Lame.

I know Odet, but I can't stand seeing fellow Paladin tanks with wrong stuff. I get suicidal when I see somebody reforging for hit. So I couldn't sit there and see him write he is main spec tank and not comment on it eventhough he'd be main spec retri in the guild.

Hello, I thought i'd just post a link to the armoury of my Retribution Gear as my description in the application wasn't very detailed.
Thanks

Hi Darkpally,

Thanks for the application, however we are currently very full on melee DPS and as we already have a Paladin tank in the guild. We want a DPS with a tanking offspec such as yourself but with other current applications we will be declining yours for now.

Please feel free to apply again if a spot opens up but right now we can’t offer you a raid spot and I don’t think its fair to leave you sitting on the side lines.

Best Regards,

Darthrax
